EFT tapping guide: nine points and five steps

This page describes how Tap Into Calm—a private EFT tapping app in your browser—structures one round. The app is in English at tapintocalm.app.

What EFT tapping is here

Emotional Freedom Techniques combine focused attention on one specific feeling or situation with gentle tapping on nine acupressure points. You rate intensity (often called SUD) before and after each round. Tap Into Calm keeps the sequence, setup language, and reminders so you can stay with the sensation instead of memorizing steps.

Five steps in one round

  1. Name what is here now. Pick a feeling from the list, your own words, one of 129 library scenarios, or a description for optional AI. Concrete wording (“tight stomach before a call”) works better than something vague. You can note where you feel it in the body.
  2. Rate intensity from 0–10. This number is yours; you compare it at the end. The session finishes when intensity reaches zero.
  3. Say the setup phrase. “Even though I have this [what is present], I deeply and completely accept myself.” It acknowledges what is true and does not ask you to feel positive about something you do not feel yet.
  4. Tap the nine points. Use one short reminder on every point. On the karate chop, repeat the setup three times while intensity stays above zero. The body map in the app shows where each point sits; a help icon opens a glossary.
  5. Rate again. After the last point, breathe and rate the same issue. At zero, save a result and optional note. If the score dropped but is not zero, the next round works with what remains. If it did not drop, name a new aspect.

Phrases can be edited before you start or on a saved journal entry. One round takes about one to two minutes.

Pure EFT in the app

Tap Into Calm follows the original principles of pure EFT: it stays with the uncomfortable emotion until it softens instead of covering it with positive phrases that feel false. The full explanation lives at tapintocalm.app/eft-tapping.

Outside a standard round, the app includes a short constricted-breathing exercise and the 9 Gamut procedure. Neither interrupts a session already in progress.

When this is—and is not—enough

EFT in Tap Into Calm is self-help for everyday stress, tension, and uncomfortable overload—not diagnosis or treatment. For trauma, severe symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm, seek professional care. In crisis, use findahelpline.com or your local emergency number (112 in much of Europe, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK).

Tap Into Calm is not a medical device and does not replace professional medical or psychological care.
